Our Shooting Range is located at the bottom of the hill behind the camping pitches towards the centre, if you have your own permit the range can be hired with or without our equipment. Otherwise, we are able to provide an instructor on certain weekends, availability is shown in the calendars below. The range has a covered area to provide shelter whilst you are waiting your turn.
We have six .177″ air rifles, the equipment hire also includes targets, pellets and safety glasses.
This activity must be supervised by a person with a valid Range Management Qualification (NRSA Range Conducting Officer or NRSA YPS Tutor) or holding an equivalent qualification from another body.
The instructor must hold the correct qualification for the activity they are instructing, Air Rifle and Air Pistol are two separate qualifications, NRSA Club Instructor and above covers both disciplines.
If any of those shooting are under the age of 14, the Range Conducting Officer (Instructor) or another person supervising participants in the activity must be aged not less than 21.
An appropriate instructor qualification must be presented at time of issue of equipment.
If you are unable to provide your own instructor, please add the Request an Air Rifle Instructor option to your shopping cart, we will attempt to find an instructor for you, but there is no guarantee that this can be achieved.
Shooting can only be done within the confines of the Shooting Range.
Each shooting session must have no more than 10 people (less for younger children) for two reasons, the safety of those taking part in the activity but to also allow an adequate amount of shooting time for each person.
Only single shot .177 Air Rifles / Air Pistols may be used on the range.
It is a mandatory requirement that all young people under the age of 18, participating in air rifle shooting must have a completed Parental Permission Form signed by their parent or guardian, which includes the Section 21 extract included on the Scout / Guide Permission to Shoot forms.
All Participants 18 and older must sign a Section 21 disclaimer before partaking or assisting in this activity. The Scout / Guide Permission to Shoot forms are appropriate for this.
Shooting at targets representing human beings or animals is not permitted as a part of any Scout activity, or on property leased by the Scouts.
Site Equipment can only be used by either Scouts or Guides, no other organisations can use it without prior approval in writing (at the discretion of the Campsite Manager) unless a member of the Dunham Team / Site Instructor is leading the activity.
Damage to any equipment will be charged.
